Flight operations


Norwegian holds three Air Operator's Certificates (AOC). Safe and secure operations have the highest priority throughout the organisation.

Three AOCs

Norwegian currently holds three Air Operator’s Certificates (AOC). An AOC is an operational and technical approval issued by a country’s Civil Aviation Authority which grants the holder the right to conduct commercial flights.

Norwegian has been granted two AOCs by the Civil Aviation Authority in Norway. One is for Norwegian Air Norway (NAN), which operates from the company’s Scandinavian bases, while the other is for Norwegian Air Shuttle (NAS), which operates routs outside of Scandinavia.

Norwegian has also been granted an Irish AOC for its subsidiary Norwegian Air International Limited (NAI), which is based in Dublin.  

Safety

Safe and secure operations have the highest priority throughout the organisation. Norwegian’s operations are regulated by the Norwegian Air Travel Legislation of 11th June 1993, no. 101, concerning rules and regulations for civil aviation, and regulations for civil aviation (BSL) issued by the Norwegian CAA.

The Group has never registered any serious accidents or incidents to either passengers or crew involving aircraft operations.

The company’s flight safety department is an independent department, which reports directly to the Accountable Manager. The department’s main task is to work proactively to promote flight safety throughout the organisation. The Civil Aviation Authority approves all programs, examinations and qualification requirements.

Our customers will be met by service-minded personnel on the ground and in the air, the booking process is simple and hassle-free, and you will reach your destination quickly and without fuss.

Norwegian adheres to the slogan “freedom to choose”. We believe it should be possible to travel for the announced ticket price without any further fees or charges being added, and without the ticket price subsidising the added cost of choices made by fellow passengers. However, we also recognise that many passengers require a little extra service. Those who choose to send baggage, drink coffee, or enjoy other services not directly related to the cost of flying the aircraft from A to B are offered these services in exchange for a small fee.

Norwegian’s goal is that more than 90 percent of our flights will depart on time. Getting to your destination at the right time is important for you as a customer, and for us as an airline.
